Ryan,
You are being very humble because you know, as do we, that Mike would not be a QB if you had not entered into our lives. No one else would give Mike a chance to play QB because everyone thought he was too big for QB and his size would serve a team better at another position. You have taught Mike everything he knows at this position and we are forever grateful and indebted to you. You are an AMAZING teacher and QB coach. In every signing day interview Kevin Morris, the head coach at UMass, mentions Mike's "football mind" as being among Mike's strengths. Not only did you develop his physical skills at the QB position, but you developed the "football mind" that set Mike apart from other QBs in the class of 2011. The only two coaches who put classroom work into their QB training are you and Coach David Cutcliffe -- pretty good company to be in, Ryan.
Thanks again for all of your help thus far. You know you are not rid of Mike yet -- we need for him to work with you as much as possible to stay sharp so he can compete for the starting QB spot at UMass in the fall.
Sincerely,
Mary Wegzyn (mother of UMass Quarterback Mike Wegzyn)
"You don't need to look any further if you found Ryan Hockman as your quarterback coach. He knows the position inside and out."
Terry Malone, New Orleans Saints Assistant Coach
I am a father of a QB who started four years at the QB
position on varsity at a large class A school here in Michigan. I’m also a private QB coach and I can
tell you that sending my son to work with Ryan was the best thing we ever did
to further my son’s playing career.
I would recommend Ryan to QB’s of all levels. He has coached so many QB’s at so many levels, that his
experience speaks for itself. His
knowledge of the QB position is second to none!
Besides being an outstanding coach and teacher, Ryan has the
temperament to relate to his athletes while demanding perfection during their
workout sessions. I love the fact
that he spent time with my son to get to know him personally so he could tailor
his program around my son’s needs.
You can find many good QB coaches that can teach drills, but Ryan takes
his QB’s to another level by getting them to understand how to execute more
accurately and play the position to the fullest.
His drills are excellent and will help QB’s with their
footwork, drops and throwing motion.
My son is only 6’1 and he needed to continue to learn how to get the
most out of his frame when it came to his throwing motion. Ryan helped him in so many
ways….getting the most torque out of his entire body.
He provided my son the coaching and techniques needed in
order for him to succeed and move on to the college level.
Ryan Hockman is not only a great QB’s coach, but a
FIRST-CLASS man in many ways!!!
The news of you and your family moving is a travesty only because the
young QB’s here in Michigan will not have the option of working with you on a
consistent basis….Yet, I’m sure there will be a young QB in your new home town
that will take advantage of the situation. Good luck to you and your family

University)
My son Cheyne has taken individual lessons with Coach Hockman as well as group lessons and attended camps where Coach Hockman has worked. Coach Hockman's ability to communicate his knowledge of the game is second to none. He is truly a teacher on the field. His cutting edge teaching methods cover all aspects of the throwing motion. Cheyne is an undersized QB by today's standards, but is able to throw with the same if not more velocity and balance than QB's 6" taller or 50 lbs. heavier. If you are interested in becoming a better QB, I highly recommend getting with Coach Hockman.
Dwayne LaCanaria (father of Brother Rice High School QB Cheyne LaCanaria)
Coach - yesterday's announcement of you leaving hit "Wags" very hard. He has the highest respect for you and your coaching staff thanks to all the attention you paid to him during the last months. He asked me if he would ever see you again and I said I don't know. He replied: "I will see him when I am playing quarterback for Oregon." Coach for you to devote the same effort and time with Wags as you did with Shane Morris, a division one athlete, tells me you do this for all the right reasons.
Thank you and good luck.
Scott M. Wagner (father of 11-year-old QB "Wags" from Ortonville, Michigan)
"My experience has been that if the QB coach hasn't played the position, the coaching is just not quite dead on in how to express what you should be looking at. There's just so much involved in the position. In theory, non-QBs can explain, but in practice... Coach Hockman was the only coach I ever had who could explain it exactly as I saw it, and for me that was essential. I just wish I could have played for him longer. I'd probably have a lot better idea right now about what to do on the field." Adrian Rainbow, four-time German Bowl Champion QB and Career Record Holder in Passing Yards, Completions and Touchdowns in the German Football League
Ryan Hockman has been very instrumental in the development of my son Brian Jr at the quarterback position. I would suggest that any young athlete who desires to be a great high school or college quarterback contact Coach Hockman for lessons.
Brian Blackburn (father of Detroit Crocket Quarterback Brian Blackburn, Jr.)
Patrick learned more in this camp than any other camp or combine that he attended. He also got to meet and work side by side and compete with other high caliber high school quarterbacks from all over the country. I really think Coach Hockman’s influence and the lessons learned at his camp had a lot to do with the end result of my son getting a full ride to play QB at a D1 school.
